Nollywood Stars That Have Received National Awards From President Jonathan

“Whenever I travel abroad, many of my colleagues, Presidents of other countries, ask me about Nollywood. Nollywood is our shining light. Africans are very proud of Nollywood. That is why we are here today to celebrate the success story of this national, continental and global brand.”---- President Gloodluck Jonathan, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the State House in Marina, Lagos.

President Goodluck Jonathan Has Lifted Nollywood To A Higher Level.

In 2010, Chinedu Ikedieze and Patience Ozokwor were given the MFR, Awards by President Jonathan.

6 Nollywood personalities were awarded Nigerian national honours on Monday (October 14, 2011), along with several other Nigerians, who made the 2011 National Honours list. The awards were presented by President Goodluck of Nigeria, at an event, held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja (Nigeria). The 6 Nollywood personalities who received national honours at the ceremony were Olu Jacobs, Amaka Igwe (now late), Kanayo O. Kanayo, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, and Osita Iheme.
They were each awarded the honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Early this year, the President gave Patience Ozokwor, Olu Jacobs and Kenneth Nnebue (Producer of Living in Bondage), the centenary awards. So for Patience Ozokwor and Olu Jacobs, it is more of double portion for them from Mr President.

Most recently, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and veteran actress, Joke Silva, were among the recipients of the MFR Awards 2014.

President Jonathan has much love for Nollywood, starting from when he was the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa. His contributions to the development of Nollywood cannot be overemphasized. He has given several appointments to some Nollywood personalities.

President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan of Nigeria has become the most gracious and generous patron of Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry and the first Nigerian President to lift Nolllywood to a higher level with unprecedented financial largesse of US$200,000,000 for a special Entertainment Intervention Fund he announced whilst gracing the occasion of the 30th Anniversary party of the Silverbird Group on Saturday November 6, 2010 after a passionate appeal by Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Silverbird Group.
