Woman in court for stealing N1.5million from Obasanjo’s company


A 30-year-old employee of Obasanjo Holdings Limited, Abeokuta, Ms Olajoke Monplaisir, was yesterday arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.5m belonging to her employer. The prosecutor, Sunday Egbejiale said the accused, a protocol officer, allegedly stole the money, which was meant for the payment of flight tickets of the company’s members of staff to Eastwind Travel Agency. Punch reports that the accused, who pleaded not guilty, is facing a charge of theft.
Egbejiale told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence sometime in August at Obasanjo Holdings Limited located at the Agbeloba area in Abeokuta. He said, “The accused stole the money entrusted to her for the booking of flight tickets for some of Obasanjo Holdings Limited members of staff who were supposed to travel with Eastwind Travel Agency. “The offence contravened Sections 383, 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.” The Chief Magistrate, Anthony Araba, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned till December 17 for further hearing.
